Founded in England in the 1920s, Omersa became known for its hand-crafted leather animal footstools, originally produced for luxury interiors and gentlemen’s clubs. Each piece was made using traditional saddle-leather techniques, stitched and shaped by hand, giving every example subtle individuality.
This elephant ottoman likely dates to the 1950s–60s, a period when Omersa’s designs became more sculptural and expressive.
The raised trunk pose gives the piece a sense of movement, while the aged leather surface shows a deep, uneven patina developed through decades of use.
Elephants from this era often suffer damage to the trunk or tusks, but this example remains in notably good condition. The tail is missing, a small loss that quietly marks its long life rather than detracting from its presence.
A rare and characterful survivor, balancing utility, craftsmanship, and sculptural charm.
